Frequently Asked Questions

Which Chicago rail ramps does Mark-It Express serve?
Mark-It Express maintains interchange agreements at all major intermodal terminals in the Chicago gateway: BNSF Logistics Park Chicago (Elwood), Union Pacific Global IV (Joliet), CN Joliet, CN Harvey (Gateway), Norfolk Southern Landers, CSX Bedford Park, and CPKC Bensenville.
Is Mark-It Express asset-based or does it broker drayage?
Mark-It Express Logistics, LLC is a fully asset-based intermodal drayage carrier. The company owns its trucks and chassis — including 20-foot, 40-foot, 45-foot, and tri-axle configurations — and does not rely on brokered capacity for core drayage operations.
What is the difference between BNSF LPC and UP Global IV?
Both are co-located at the CenterPoint Intermodal Center and serve primarily West Coast port origins. The key difference is railroad and steamship line partnerships: BNSF serves Maersk, MSC, COSCO, ONE, and Yang Ming. UP serves ONE, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, Evergreen, and HMM. Your steamship line’s IPI routing determines which ramp receives your container.
What if my containers arrive via East Coast ports?
Containers arriving via East Coast ports (New York/NJ, Baltimore, Norfolk, Savannah) routed to Chicago typically discharge at NS Landers or CSX Bedford Park. If routing via CN from Halifax, containers may discharge at CN Harvey or CN Joliet. Mark-It Express serves all of these facilities.
Can Mark-It Express handle overweight containers?
Yes. Mark-It Express operates tri-axle drayage chassis — “any-sizers” — engineered for overweight and oversized ocean containers, and is capable of moving two 20-foot TEU containers on a single chassis. Overweight permitting is handled as part of the service.
What is the service radius from Chicago?
Mark-It Express provides drayage services within approximately 300 miles of Chicago, covering Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, and Iowa.
