Our Story

Built by people who pick up the phone.

Mark-It Express has been independent and family-run since 2009. We grew up handling Midwest drayage the hard way, owning the equipment, hiring the drivers, and answering the phone ourselves. Here’s how we got here, and why we’ve stayed independent.

Where we started

A drayage company that answers to its customers, not a parent company

Mark-It Express started in 2009 with a simple idea: own the equipment, hire good drivers, and treat the phone like it matters. We’ve grown into the largest independent asset-based drayage provider in the Midwest, but the idea hasn’t changed. When you call, you reach someone who can make a decision, not a queue.

That growth was deliberate. We added trucks, chassis, and terminals when we could staff them with people who’d represent us well on the road, not a moment before.

The short version

  • Independent and asset-based since 2009
  • The Midwest’s largest independent drayage hauler
  • Our own trucks, chassis, and dispatch
  • Terminals in Chicago, Detroit, and Kansas City
  • Company drivers and exclusive contracted drivers
Why independent matters

Not owned by a conglomerate, not brokering your freight

Being independent means we’re not shopping your freight to whoever’s cheapest that week, and we’re not hiding behind a broker when something goes sideways. We own the trucks and the chassis, so the capacity we promise is capacity we actually have.

It also means your relationships and your data stay yours. We’re not an arm of an ocean carrier or a giant 3PL that might turn around and chase your customers. When your volume spikes or a ramp jams up, our own fleet keeps your freight moving instead of making excuses.

Ready When You Are.

Tell us what you’re moving and we’ll get you a fair rate, fast.
